CALL-OUT COMPANY STAGE MANAGER
Theatre Re is looking for a talented, committed and reliable professional Company Stage Manager to join the team of the touring show ‘BIRTH’. This role is ideally suited to someone in the early stages of their professional career, looking for the opportunity to develop skillsets and establish a long term relationship with a touring theatre company. This is a paid opportunity.

About BIRTH:
BIRTH depicts the interconnected narratives of three generations of women within a single family, as they go through pregnancy, motherhood, marriage, and loss. Emily, eight months pregnant, immerses herself in her grandmother's journal, uncovering a legacy of courage and unconditional love, and confronting the unspoken sorrows that have shaped their lives. Through a blend of visual theatre and live music, BIRTH takes the audience on a poignant journey, where stories of family bonds, shared experiences, memories, and secrets are told with grace and sensitivity.

Rates of pay:
The Producer will be following the ITC/Equity minimum rates of pay. Per Diems will be following the ITC/Equity minimum rates. Holiday Pay will be calculated in line with Equity Guidelines. Travel, accommodations and Per Diems will be covered outside London.

About BIRTH:

The ideal candidates will:
- have at least 1 year of professional experience as a CSM or SM
- be comfortable working collaboratively in a pressurised live environment
- have effective interpersonal skills and an appetite for solving problems
- have a full and clean driving license
- be available for all rehearsal and performance dates below - Please do not apply if you are not available for ALL the dates
Main duties while on tour:
- perform to the best of their ability and behave with appropriate and respectful conduct whilst in the rehearsal room / venue
- carry out prep work as requested in advance - this can include: checking the show tech rider, liaising with venues for enquiries in connection with our rider, responding to team members requests, establishing tech schedules…etc
- write the Risk Assessment on behalf of the company and ensure that all company members have read it (and also send to venues in line with deadlines)
- write and send the tech schedule to the company and venues (in line with deadlines)
- be the Health and Safety point of contact and present at all rehearsals, performances, workshops, notes sessions and post-show discussions as planned in the schedule
- plan, lead and supervise get-in, get-out, tech rehearsals, and show schedules in collaboration with Technical Manager and Producer
- take responsibility for the management of the theatre’s rehearsal spaces and ensure that they are well prepared and safe environments
- deal with any issues that arise throughout the day in conjunction with Tech Manager, Producer and General Manager
- call actors & musicians for tech rehearsals and performances, and lead on pre-set and shout-check
- lead on ensuring that all set, props, costumes and instruments required for the production are brought for the rehearsals, tech rehearsals and performances. Lead on loading and unloading the van, packing and unpacking show suitcases and updating the packing list
- establish care notes and supervise the maintaining and replacement of props and costumes. Lead on washing and laundry during and after each tour, ensuring that all costumes & shoes are returned clean and dry to storage at the end of each tour
- take responsibility for managing agreed budgets under the CSM’s control for productions and maintenance
- write a show report after all dress rehearsals and performances
- support marketing activities as requested in advance to promote the company: occasionally share pictures (to be used for Theatre Re social media activities) and take part in short interviews
