Environmental Policy
REsponsibility
Theatre Re has grown since its inception in 2011 and is now a busy making, touring and learning company with multiple mid-scale shows touring nationally and internationally at any one time,new work in development and a thriving participation strand.
Theatre Re acknowledges a responsibility for, and a commitment to, sustainability and the protection of the environment. We’re committed to minimising our environmental impact and reducing our carbon footprint - which includes the use of electricity, natural gas, water and consumables (waste) - and communicating our actions and sharing good practice with our collaborators, freelance practitioners and tour venues.
REaction
Theatre Re endeavours to:
● reduce resource consumption – by keeping our operational overheads to a minimum.
● minimise energy usage – by using public transport where possible and conduct online meetings with collaborators and venues.
● recycle waste and reuse where possible – by reusing equipment, set, scenery, costumes.
● use sustainable and ethical goods and implement sustainability criteria in our choice of suppliers – by working with suppliers who share our environmental values.
To help drive change, we will appoint a Sustainability Champion who will oversee and manage the environmental impact of the work of Theatre Re. They will establish initiatives such as: creating a Green Agreement for collaborators and a Green Rider for venues; using a carbon calculator to measure the impact of what we do; creating a Materials Inventory for our new show;
managing sustainable procurement.
We’re committed to reducing the negative environmental impacts of our activities and ensuring sustainability becomes a core value. We will evaluate our progress annually in the key areas described above, referring to The Theatre Green Book and using
the Julie’s Bicycle Industry Green tool, as well as our own data analysis and according to a review of our Environmental Action Plan.
REach out
Theatre Re is committed to sharing our experience and learning from peers in the theatre industry. We’re always open to thoughts, suggestions and examples on implementing best practice, so please don’t hesitate to write to our Sustainability Champion at: [email protected]
