'Theatre Re provided exactly what my students needed: focus, precision, detail and challenge. They worked them hard and got a level of creativity and imagination out of them which surprised and impressed the students themselves - and me! All the time offering positive and encouraging feedback so that even the most cautious of the group could throw themselves into the work without fear. It was a really brilliant day - I wish we could have done more.' Sarah McCormack, Head of Drama & Theatre, Redmaids' Highschool

'To see and hear Theatre Re’s devised work at such a high level of concept and expertise, which overtly and deliberately does not start with a script or a score, is such an exciting variation on the norm. Surely an essential ingredient in the all-round training and awareness of all creative artists.'
John Hardy , Head of Composition, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama |
'The workshop helped students explore fundamental elements in an accessible way - a window into performance training: controlling the body, articulating the space, holding a focused body, ensemble awareness. So much learning in 2 hours! An instant antidote to the pedestrian classroom drama habits!'
Helan Whelan, Head of Drama, Parkstone Grammar School |
Our training programmes are in high demand globally, with long-term partners such as RADA, Rose Bruford and the Estonian Accademy of Music and Theatre.
In the UK, we work regularly with secondary schools, colleges, universities & independent training institutions to delvelop and offer workshops designed to support learning and qualifications in drama, dance and contemporary performing arts. Our workshops can be delivered in a variety of formats, from a one-off session to regular classes across a term. All of our learning activities are inclusive and tailored to the group we are working with, so every workshop is different.
Please see below for an outline of our current workshops and how they support students development both in creating work and building performance skills.

Devising - GCSE & A Level Drama
This dynamic workshop explores how Theatre Re creates powerful physical theatre from simple actions.
Students will discover how to build meaning and narrative without text—starting with the body as the primary tool for storytelling. Our starting point or stimulus when we make work is action. In this workshop we are working physically with space, movement, weight and rhythm. We will introduce the main principles that fall within Theatre Re’s ethos through games, improvisational exercises, technique, repertoire and ensemble work. The final part of the workshop will always involve a composition exercise where students are invited to “compose” their own movement score using all of the vocabulary and skills that we have shared with them. Students leave with a toolkit they can apply directly to their practical projects, devising assessments, and written evaluations. |
Acting without words - A Level & BTEC Drama
Students will take part in an intensive workshop rooted in Theatre Re’s core movement practice: Corporeal Mime.
Focusing on physicality and the ability to communicate without words, participants will discover body articulation, counterweights, dynamo rhythms and - learning how to evoke meaning through movement rather than directly represent it. Students will explore the concept of the “Reversed Metaphor,” a key part of Theatre Re’s creative process. Through physical exploration and guided tasks, we’ll demonstrate how our work develops from research and experimentation, using examples from our own repertoire to show how ideas are discovered and shaped through the body. |
Music for Theatre
Our music workshops offer a unique opportunity for Music and Actor-Musician students to explore the role of sound in devised theatre.
The sessions use real examples from the company’s productions to guide students through the process of transforming visual ideas and emotions into original music. Whether composing structured pieces or experimenting through improvisation, students will develop key creative skills that enhance both performance and musical storytelling. |
